PROCEDURES
Mastopexy (breast lift)
Servicio de Mamoplastia Dr. Fulvio Correa.

Mastopexy (breast lift) is a medical term used to describe a surgical procedure that seeks to reposition the breast tissue and remove excess skin, thus correcting sagging breasts.

This procedure is designed for those women who have breast tenderness generated by changes in body weight or pregnancies, and although it can be performed at any age, it is advisable to wait until the breast development has been completed.

The mastopexy can be performed using only the patient’s breast tissue or through the inclusion of a silicone implant that will provide support and consistency to the new breast.

Its duration varies between 2.5 – 4 hours depending on the size and degree of complexity and can be performed with regional (epidural) or general anesthesia. The post-surgical recovery takes around 2 to 4 weeks, during which time the patient must follow the medical guidelines, periodically wander, avoid lifting the arms, excessive physical effort and sun exposure among others.

Any surgical intervention presents a controlled risk of complications inherent in the anesthetic act and the procedure as such. However, all the relevant measures are taken to prevent them from occurring. Among the possible complications, we find seroma (accumulation of fluid under the skin), hematoma, hypersensitivity, edema, infection, thrombus formation, and scarring problems.

“Finally, remember that your health is also up to you, always follow your doctor’s instructions and avoid engaging in activities such as smoking, drinking or ingesting any type of hallucinogenic substances.”

PROCEDURES
Breast reduction (Reduction mammoplasty)

Reduction mammoplasty is a medical term used to describe a surgical procedure that seeks to reduce the volume of the breast. The resection of excess breast tissue and skin gives the breasts a more proportional aspect to the rest of the body.

This procedure is indicated in those women who have mammary hypertrophy (enormous breasts), and although it can be performed at any age, it is advisable to wait until the breast development has been completed.

Although reductive mammoplasty prioritizes volume reduction and weight relief for the patient, the aesthetic result is no less important. Therefore it is essential that the breast maintain a conical and symmetrical format, as well as a size that is in harmony with the build of the woman.
